The Verdict

“Love is weird and sometimes gross.”

A few months ago, in the food court of a Wegmans, my buddy Kerry and I started scheming a music video for the lead single on his new album. We both agreed it should have hella romantic vibes. We also both agreed it should "get really weird."

We settled on a love story that takes a surreal turn, which presented us with a fun opportunity: how do you give someone a mouth on their stomach that works? The answer was a mix of VFX and prosthetics.

I knew that if we shot the right plates, we could graft Kerry’s mouth onto our actors, the problem was when they moved, the last thing I wanted to do was have the graphics look super fake. So I called my buddy Charlie Cunningham (who had sculpted the heart for The Sun Line’s Your Eyes music video) and had him cast Kerry’s face that we could use as a prosthetic for more complex blocking. The result was extremely fun.
